Doctor Visit - 26 Weeks

I had a doctor's appointment today! The baby's heartbeat was 128 bpm. I measured 27 weeks, but the doctor said that's pretty normal. I actually asked a few questions which was nice for a change! In two weeks I'll go back and have a diabetes test. YUCK! :) Then, I think 2 weeks after that we'll have another ultrasound. I'll be 30 weeks by then.

Christmas 2008

This is a picture of us on Christmas day. I just thought I'd stick it on here real quick. We had a great Christmas this year. We also enjoyed thinking of how very different our next Christmas will be! We should have an 8 or 9 month old by then!!! It will definitely be interesting!
We are still working on our baby name dilemma! Now I know why people name their kids some of the names they pick, DESPERATION! Coming up with a name has truly been a challenge. Last night we went to Books-A-Million and bought 2 more baby name books. We'll see how it goes when we start looking in them. So far we've ruled out some of the names in the 64,000 Ultimate Baby Names book, some examples include: Cack, Cactus, Candle, Citronella, etc... Yes, those were actually listed in the boy section. Hopefully the medicine they give me during labor/delivery will not make me loopey enough to name my baby boy Citronella!

Nursery Pics

Well, it is Christmas Eve! Merry Christmas everyone! Ricky got me a new digital camera, so I just tried it out by taking some nursery pics and one of me from a different angle.
This is the wall on the right when you walk into the nursery. Our theme is jungle and the colors are mostly green and yellow.

This is the wall that is straight ahead when you walk into the nursery. Ricky painted an "accent wall" in dark green. We didn't want to repaint the whole room because that would require scaffolding - no thank you!!!!

And here's me at 25 weeks and 2 days pregnant! My baby bump seems to grow everyday, so I can't imagine what I might look like 3 months from now! As long as he's healthy though, nothing else matters! I'll just have to take him for daily strolls to work off the "baby weight" when it's all over with!

25 weeks today!

Hi all! Well, today is our 25th week! The baby is growing and starting to kick a little harder. I'm enjoying every minute! We celebrated Christmas with my family this weekend and I ate like a pig. The only problem with that is that when I eat a lot I get very uncomfortable, probably because there's not much tummy room in here these days! It was worth it though because the food was sooo good! :) Here is a pic from yesterday, I look pretty worn out. Ricky took this right before my Sunday afternoon nap! :) I'm going back to the doctor on December 30th for my 26 week visit. I'll let you know what happens with that!

23 Weeks!

This is me at 23 weeks having a bad hair day! :) It was humid all day and now it's raining. I just had to show off my growing baby bump!

Baby boy is moving lots these days which keeps me very entertained. It's wonderful to have reminders all day long that he's in there getting bigger and ripening up so he can be born.

I went to the doctor on December 2 and got a good report. I didn't have Daddy with me, so I of course didn't ask too many questions. :( I hate when I do that! He's just better about asking. So, the doc measured my belly for the first time and said "it measures great", but do I know what that really means? No, and did I ask? No. Next time I'll ask because I really want to know.

I'll go back to the doctor on December 30th for my 26 week appointment.

I'm still planning to take pics of the nursery, but I want to get the wall decor hung up first. It's taking a while. Maybe over Christmas break!

21 Weeks!

Well, I'm now 21 weeks pregnant! That means approximately 19 weeks left! We've been working around our house and on the nursery. This weekend Ricky painted an accent wall in the nursery and we got the furniture put together and set up. It's coming together! I wanted to take care of this before I get too big to participate (without much effort!).

Everyone wants to know about baby names, we have no idea! It's harder than it sounds to come up with one, at least one we both like. It will probably take us a while yet. We might keep our name choices a surprise until we introduce him to the world. We'll see!

He's kicking more these days, or at least I feel it more! My baby bump has grown a bit. Last week one of my first graders saw me in the hall and said "Mrs. Peters, I see your baby, he's poking out!" When I told her group I was going to have a baby a while back, she looked at me with a strange look and said "it doesn't look like you are".

The next few months should be interesting at work as I try to finish out all of my paperwork by mid-March. That is no small challenge and brings a bit of stress, but I know it will all work out one way or the other!

I'm going back to the doctor on December 2nd, so it should be interesting to hear what he has to say.
Nursery pics to follow soon! Thanks for reading our blog!

Well... it's a....

Baby BOY! So far he is healthy and growing right on target! My gut has been telling me for about a month that it was a boy. We were both surprised at first, but we're happy! Ricky said "now our name will be carried on". During the ultrasound his legs were parallel with his head and he was grabbing his toes. The doctor described him as breech, active, and limber! (the breech part will hopefully change over time):) I'm starting to feel him moving more every day. I'm soooo thankful to have him and really enjoy having ultrasounds so much! Talk about a true miracle! We'll go back in 4 more weeks for our next visit. I'll post ultrasound pics below as soon as I have time to scan them.

Can you see him grabbing his toes? How sweet is that?

18 Weeks Boy or Girl?

We are supposed to find out on Tuesday what we are having. A baby, yes! But what kind? We can't wait to know and we hope our little one will cooperate! Here are some pics of me at 18 weeks - getting bigger!

Almost 16 Weeks!

Here are some pics of me at almost 16 weeks! I'm getting bigger which is neat. I'm so thankful to God for giving us such a treasure! He is sooooooo good!

P.S. I took these pics by myself and they are kind of from a weird angle, so try to ignore that if you can help it! :)

Hear the Baby's Heartbeat

We just got a cheap doppler in the mail today. We can now listen to our baby's heartbeat whenever we want! SOOOO Cool!

The first heartbeat that plays is mine, then you can hear the baby's heartbeat come in at a much faster rate. There are a couple of kicks recorded too. You can tell the baby is moving around because the sound of the heartbeat fades away and then comes in much stronger at the end.

Look on the menu bar on the right and click the > to play!

14 Week Check-up

We had our 14 week check-up today with the doctor. We heard the baby's heartbeat and it was beating at 154 bpm. The normal range is 120-160. We won't see the baby again until our next routine ultrasound at 18 weeks. At that time we should find out if we're having a boy or girl!

13 Weeks!

Here are some pics of me at 13 weeks (or the day before). The "pooch" has grown a tad which is something to get used to. I thought the nausea was completely gone, but I'm finding that it comes and goes. Overall it's much better though! :)

No More Nausea!!!

I'm happy to report that two days ago, like a switch turning off, the nausea finally stopped! I'm a happy girl at this point! But I'm still hungry a lot of the time!

Jumping Jelly Bean!

Today we had another doctor visit. I'm 12 weeks and 3 days along. We've been blessed and spoiled to have ultrasounds each time we've gone to the doctor so far. They are keeping a close watch on our little one which is nice! Today was so exciting because it was the first time we got to see our baby move! It jumped at least twice and did a few other movements here and there! It is still measuring perfectly for its gestational age. This whole process has been so amazing! We are so thankful for this wonderful gift! God is soooo good!

We'll go back to the doctor again on October 7th, then after that we won't go again until I'm about 18 weeks along. We hope to find out at the 18 week visit if this baby is a boy or girl.

11 1/2 Weeks!

Here are a couple pics of my 11 week old baby bump! My mother-in-law got this maternity shirt for me. It says "Baby loves mommy" in several different languages! :) What a sweet thought!

I go back to the doctor on September 25th!

10 Week Ultrasound

We had our 10 week doctor's appointment on Tuesday, September 9th. Having Ricky go with me helped to put me at ease (and probably the doctor too). We got many questions answered which was a relief! The best part of the visit was the ultrasound, of course!!! :) Our baby is now 1 1/2 inches long! It has really grown. This time we could see it's arms and legs in addition to it's little heartbeat! These are the ultrasound pictures. In the one on the bottom, I think that the baby's arm is bent and you can see the fingers resting on its' head! :) SOOOO SWEET!

Here's a what I look like at 10 weeks pregnant for those who don't get to see me all the time (and for those who might be curious!)

Baby's First Hurricane Evacuation!

We just got back from Vicksburg after evacuating from Hurricane Gustav. It was a good opportunity to visit with family there! We packed up our 2 cats and lots of other stuff in Clifford (you know, the big red truck) and went over there on Saturday night. As I looked at the back seat I told Ricky that if the baby was already here it would be sitting back there and all of the stuff back there would be baby related!!! We are really in for a life change and it is soooo exciting to think about and anticipate!

Our area really wasn't affected by Gustav, thankfully, so now we are back home and getting settled in again! Ricky is working today, but school won't resume until Monday YAY!!!!

We're still looking forward to our next doctor visit on September 9th. I'll post an update after that! Thanks for visiting! :)

First OB Visit - 8 weeks old

Today I had my first OB visit here in town. I was nervous for most of the day just hoping that everything was alright. I don't get like that often, but the combination of getting another report and starting with a new doctor was a lot to take in one day. Ricky wasn't able to come because he has some projects at work that must be done by tomorrow. We were both bummed that he couldn't come!!! He is much better about asking questions. I totally clam up, smile, and nod my head. I hate when I do that! I did manage to ask for an extra ultrasound picture so Ricky can have one too!

The doctor said that the baby is growing just fine. It looks totally different than it did last time! Bigger and much more defined. I got to see its little heart beating again! What an awesome and wonderful sight!

The good news is we get to go back again in 2 weeks for another check up! This doctor is making sure everything keeps going good and I'm sooooo glad! :) Hopefully Daddy will be able to go and ask a ton of questions!

Our next appointment is September 9th, so look for another update around that time! :)

Thank you for the Nausea and Fatigue

I'm feeling pregnant these days. My clothes are tight, I wake up nauseous, I eat frequently, and I'm very tired. But I'm grateful for all of these things! Ricky says those are the baby's way of telling me it loves me! It loves me LOTS! :) What a beautiful thought!

We have our first OB appointment on Monday, August 25th.

We're having a baby!

We found out we are officially expecting a baby July 30th. Two days before my 32nd birthday! We were overjoyed and thrilled with this wonderful news! We feel so blessed and thankful to have the opportunity to be parents!

Our first ultrasound was on August 12th. Our baby was 6 weeks old. We got to see and hear the heartbeat (104 bpm).
